The newsletter of the wine grower
La lettre du Vigneron - Autumn 2005
The last shears have just been put away and we are glad to write you to share the latest news about the Champagne René Geoffroy with you.
Firstly, a few words about the 2005 harvest and its noteworthy quality.
And yet in the beginning of September month, we didn’t expect a such result. Steamy weather conditions made grey rot easier to develop on several parcels and we could fear the worst.
Then, as if by some miracle, from the beginning of the harverst, on September 14th, a bright sun and fresh nights took hold on the vineyard durably.
Botrytis dried up, grapes stuffed themselves with sugar and kept this choice beautiful acidity.
The quality of these grapes could enable us to suggest you a vintage 2005.
But let’s be careful. Only the tasting of clear wines, in January will enable us to know really if this promising harvest is worth being a vintage.
So, to wait, we invite you to discover the full range of René Geoffroy Champagnes.
As promised in our previous newsletter, we still continue harmonization of the visual show of our range of Champagnes covering with our differencies remaining vintages.
So, from next November, the Champagne Cuvée de Réserve will become The Champagne Elixir, The Champagne Cuvée de Réserve Brut will be called Champagne Expression and at last The Champagne Expression will be called The Champagne Empreinte.
These new names will show you better the character of each vintage. You will find exclusively this character in René Geoffroy Champagnes.
After the Rosé de Saignée and the Champagne Volupté, we preview the design of the Champagnes Elixir, Expression and Empreinte.
At last, we have decided to suggest you a jaunt out of the Champagne Region, in Lot-et-Garonne in search of Family Castarède’s beautiful Armagnac.
These are wine growers who are attached to the same traditions as us and produce absolute delight wines for taste buds.
Have a good reading and see you soon
